Job summary

IES is hiring a Mechanical Assembler to join the Manufacturing/Production team. The role requires assembling electrical gear and switchgear components per engineering drawings and work instructions, with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

You will read blueprints, measure parts, use hand/power tools, and ensure quality while meeting production goals. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience with mechanical assembly or manufacturing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of nuts, bolts, fasteners, and torque applications.
• Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, and measurements.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical gear and switchgear components according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Read and accurately interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and specifications.
• Measure materials and components accurately using a tape measure and other measuring devices.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, including wrenches, drills, impact drivers, and other assembly equipment.
• Install and secure nuts, bolts, brackets, and mechanical hardware to required specifications.
• Perform mechanical assembly while maintaining quality standards and production schedules.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and apply problem-solving skills to resolve mechanical fit or assembly concerns.
• Inspect completed assemblies to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet production goals.
