Job summary

CEC is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join its skilled estimating team in Texas. You will prepare conceptual cost estimates and updates for negotiated commercial projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to ensure accurate budgets.

You will lead bid packages, clarify bidder questions, and help present cost information to customers. A strong emphasis on value engineering and developing business with new and existing clients is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required with related experience.
• 3+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably within CEC's Core Market projects.
• Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam.
• Ability to prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation.
• Prepare detailed estimate updates as the design evolves, including variance summaries between estimates.
• Understand unit costs and factors that affect construction cost.
• Prepare detailed bid packages with bidder instructions and clarifications.
• Understand and negotiate electrical and/or mechanical work.
• Write and negotiate subcontracts.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of cost/budget information to the Customer/Owner.
• Participate in Value Engineering sessions with the project and design teams.
• Develop business with new and existing customers.
