Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an experienced estimator to prepare proposal estimates for multiple disciplines. You will perform detailed take-offs of systems, materials and equipment in line with project plans and specifications, using FastPIPE, FastDUCT, McCormick, ConEst and FastEST.

Key tasks include attending pre-bid meetings, maintaining data backups, and supporting other departments with cost analysis. A minimum of five years in mechanical construction estimation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong cost estimation
• Ability to interpret cost data and apply estimates across disciplines
• Experience in mechanical construction estimating is preferred
• High school degree or equivalent; technical training preferred
• At least 5 years estimating, controls, or engineering experience related to mechanical construction

Responsibilities

• Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for disciplines
• Take-offs on systems, materials, and equipment per plans/specs
• Attend pre-bid meetings and tour job sites to confirm take-offs
• Prepare estimates using FastPIPE/FastDUCT/McCormick/ConEst software
• Maintain backup files and pricing information from suppliers
• Support other departments and potentially other disciplines
• Review design options and recommend cost-effective solutions
• Assist field operations with mechanical estimates when needed
• Implement pricing updates to FastEST and assist training
