Job summary

Lightsource bp is hiring a Manager, Electrical Engineering to lead electrical design for utility-scale solar, storage and wind projects in the US. You’ll work across LV/MV systems, substations and interconnections, guiding EPCs and design teams.

You will collaborate with Procurement, Construction and Asset Services, travel 20-30%, and operate in a hybrid pattern with in-office Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 10 years of electrical engineering experience in power sector.
• Experience designing LV/MV systems for utility-scale renewables.
• Experience with Engineer of Record/Owner’s Engineer or EPC contractor.
• Strong knowledge of HV systems 69–500 kV and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead LV/MV electrical system design for renewable facilities including 1,500 Vdc, 34.5 kV.</n>
• Perform power-system studies: load flow, voltage regulation, protection coordination.
• Define requirements for NEC/NERC/IEEE/FERC compliance with Grid team.
• Size and specify components: cabling, transformers, switchgear, UPS.
• Lead design optimization and value-engineering to reduce cost.
• Prepare scopes, specs, diagrams across concept to execution phases.
• Review EPC docs at 30/60% and issued-for-construction stages.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and energization activities.
