Job summary
Freeport-McMoRan is offering a 2027 Summer Skilled Trades Internship in Electrical and Instrumentation. The program targets students in associate degree or certification programs or recent grads, and runs May–August as a temporary, full-time paid position.
Interns are placed at sites across Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas, performing maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems under supervision.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an associate degree or certification program in electrical, instrumentation/control systems or relevant field, OR
- Recent graduate within 12 months with an associate degree or certification in electrical, instrumentation/control systems or relevant field.
Responsibilities
- Removal, repair, and installation of electrical components and basic to intermediate troubleshooting.
- Safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs.
- Preventative maintenance, installation, and repair of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment including substations and switchgear.
- Troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment.
- Basic instrumentation maintenance & calibration activities.
- Safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment such as light vehicles.
- Work area and equipment safety inspections.
- Perform other duties as required.
