Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, is offering a hands-on electrical design co-op in Columbus. The selected student will learn electrical system design, produce layouts and one-line diagrams, and collaborate with engineers on building projects.

We seek a sophomore or junior pursuing electrical or architectural engineering, with interest in building systems, and familiarity with AutoCAD/REVIT. Travel for site inspections may be required.

Qualifications

• This student is pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering, preferably a sophomore or junior.
• Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
• AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work full time in the Columbus office during the co-op term.
• Willingness to travel locally for site inspections.

Responsibilities

• Learn and implement electrical system basics (power, distribution, lighting, controls) while supporting the engineering team.
• Produce detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems within buildings.
• Create one-line diagrams and schematics.
• Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
• May assist in data collection and field verification.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop all project aspects.
