Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, invites college students to join a hands-on electrical design co-op. You’ll work in a structured program that mentors you in building system electrical engineering and detailed drafting using AutoCAD and REVIT.

The position is full-time, onsite in Columbus, with overtime eligibility and dates starting May 2027 through Summer 2027. Eligible for rotations that may lead to full-time employment after graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering, preferably sophomore (2nd year) or a junior (3rd year).
• Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
• AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work full time in the Columbus office throughout the co-op term.
• Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.

Responsibilities

• Learn and implement electrical system basics such as power, power distribution, lighting & controls, fire alarm systems for new constructions and renovation design projects while supporting our engineering team.
• Produce detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems of buildings
• Produce one-line diagrams/schematics
• Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings
• May assist in the data collection and/or field verification
• Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project
