Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking an engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams to execute retrofit and new system projects from concept through commissioning.

This role requires knowledge of LV/MV systems, PLC/HMI programming, and CAD support, with remote US-based work and 35–50% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related tech field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and field service preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV and MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Produce wiring and assembly drawings with CAD.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams.
