Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role focuses on advanced power system design, including energy storage, power conditioning, and megawatt-scale inverters for EMALS.

The successful candidate will apply innovative engineering to meet objectives, document findings, present results, and lead junior engineers on component projects, while ensuring compliance and security clearances.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience designing advanced electric power inverters and power systems.
Strong understanding of engineering concepts, codes, and theory.
Ability to communicate concepts clearly and lead teams.

Responsibilities

Design electric energy storage, power conditioning, and distribution systems for MW-scale machines.
Size and select capacitor banks and inverters for MS systems.
Develop detailed design specifications and test plans.
Prepare procurement drawings and support verification activities.
Coordinate with systems engineers, subcontractors, and customers.
