Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Energy & Industrial Group in a hybrid Chicago-area role. You will design power distribution systems for industrial and renewable projects, develop equipment specifications, and perform calculations to ensure safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include preparing drawings and calculations, coordinating with vendors, and supporting project leads to meet deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program; power systems emphasis preferred.
• 3+ years in power plant/industrial plant design with detailed system design experience.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, control philosophy, and preparing calculations and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution and prepare specifications for major electrical equipment and installation services.
• Assist project lead to meet project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare functional design drawings including single line, relay and metering, cable block, and schematic diagrams; prepare input documentation for CAD/3-D modeling.
• Perform calculations such as auxiliary power studies, voltage drop, protective relay settings, and arc flash calculations.
• Interface with vendors to prepare BOMs and purchase specifications; provide client recommendations.
• Prepare reports and studies that meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site verification.
