Job summary

EVONA's client is developing next-generation industrial power systems and is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Medium Voltage) to own the design, protection, and integration of the MV electrical system for a clean-sheet industrial power platform.

You will define how a large-scale power generation system produces, protects, distributes, and controls MV power from generator terminals through switchgear and into critical loads, from architecture to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience designing or integrating medium-voltage electrical systems in power generation or industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of generators, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection relays, grounding, and distribution.
• Experience performing protection coordination studies and relay settings.
• Familiarity with generator synchronization, voltage regulation, excitation systems, and transient electrical behaviour.
• Ability to produce clear electrical drawings and protection documentation.
• Comfortable working across multidisciplinary engineering teams and supporting commissioning activities.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Electrical Engineer (Medium Voltage) to own the design, protection, and integration of the medium-voltage electrical system for a clean-sheet industrial power platform.

This is not a maintenance or utility engineering role. You'll define how a large-scale power generation system produces, protects, distributes, and controls medium-voltage power from generator terminals through switchgear and into critical loads. You'll own everything from early architecture through commissioning, working directly with controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams.

What You'll Do

• Develop the medium-voltage electrical architecture for a large industrial power generation platform
• Produce single-line diagrams, protection philosophies, electrical schematics, and design documentation

• Work closely with mechanical, controls, instrumentation, and manufacturing teams throughout development

Key Areas of Responsibility

You'll own the design and integration of systems including:

• Medium-voltage power generation and distribution
• Generator electrical systems and voltage regulation
• Switchgear, circuit breakers, bus configurations, and protection systems
• Protective relaying and coordination studies
• Fault current analysis and equipment protection
• Synchronization, frequency control, and islanded power operation
• Current transformers (CTs), potential transformers (PTs), metering, and sensing systems
• Grounding strategies and ground fault detection
• Arc-flash analysis and electrical safety systems
• Medium-voltage load banks and transient load testing

What We're Looking For

• Experience designing or integrating medium-voltage electrical systems in power generation, industrial facilities, utilities, rotating machinery, or similar environments
• Strong understanding of generators, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection relays, grounding, and electrical distribution
• Experience performing protection coordination studies and relay settings
• Familiarity with generator synchronization, voltage regulation, excitation systems, and transient electrical behaviour
• Ability to produce clear electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, and protection documentation
• Comfortable working across multidisciplinary engineering teams and supporting commissioning activities

Nice to Have

• Experience with gas turbines, generators, large motors, or other rotating power generation equipment
• Knowledge of islanded power systems or microgrids
• Experience with arc-flash studies and electrical safety standards
• Hands-on commissioning or field testing experience
• Familiarity with industrial control systems and power system automation
