A growing manufacturer of power distribution and critical infrastructure equipment is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and execution of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems. This individual will serve as a senior engineering resource, leading complex projects, mentoring engineers and designers, and driving innovation across electrical product lines.
This is a highly visible role offering significant involvement in customer-facing engineering, product development, manufacturing support, and strategic technical decision-making.
Lead the development of complete electrical design packages including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, one-line diagrams, and bills of materials.
Serve as the primary technical authority for low- and medium-voltage switchgear, control systems, and power distribution equipment.
Review and approve engineering designs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and professional development support to engineers and designers.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, standards, tools, and documentation.
Design and oversee low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, motor control centers, controls integration, and protection schemes.
Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL, and customer-specific standards.
Collaborate with manufacturing, field service, project management, and quality teams to resolve technical challenges and improve product performance.
Support factory acceptance testing, production troubleshooting, and customer witness testing.
Evaluate project specifications, one-line diagrams, and technical requirements to develop effective engineering solutions.
Partner with estimating teams to support equipment sizing, system configuration, and project feasibility assessments.
Lead technical discussions with customers, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Support proposal development and provide engineering expertise during project planning phases.
Research emerging technologies and evaluate new products, components, and design methodologies.
Participate in new product development and strategic engineering initiatives.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of electrical engineering experience with switchgear, power distribution, or related electrical equipment.
Experience leading electrical design efforts and mentoring junior engineering staff.
Strong understanding of low- and medium-voltage power systems, protective relays, generator controls, short-circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash mitigation.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Promis-e, and related electrical design software.
Ability to interpret customer specifications, one-line diagrams, and complex electrical requirements.
Extensive knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and UL standards.
Experience supporting industrial, marine, energy, oil & gas, utility, or mission-critical infrastructure projects preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with medium-voltage switchgear and protection systems.
Background in mission-critical power, utility infrastructure, industrial automation, or power generation systems.
Office-based engineering environment with frequent interaction on the manufacturing floor.
Hands-on involvement in production support, testing, and project execution.
Regional travel required to support customers, testing, and project activities.
