Job summary

Puget Sound Energy, based in Washington, seeks an Electrical Engineer III for Generation Electrical & Controls to support wind and solar projects, plant controls, and system optimization. The role blends field and office work across WA and MT, with a focus on commissioning, design reviews, and NERC compliance.

The candidate will lead projects, develop maintenance plans, and mentor engineers while ensuring safety, regulatory adherence, and reliable power generation for diverse facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil or other engineering field or a PE license (may substitute for degree).
• 5+ years of practice as a degreed engineer with experience in planning, design, spec prep, field work, cost estimating and scheduling.
• Strong organizational, documentation, prioritization and project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning and troubleshoot issues related to wind and solar generation, instrumentation, PLCs, DCSs, SCADA, and related equipment.
• Propose upgrades, component replacements and design improvements for control systems.
• Manage projects from inception to close-out including scope, budget, schedule, and documentation.
• Prepare specifications and evaluate vendor proposals; assess electrical components and specify replacements.
• Design/modify HMIs, PLCs, and DCS logic; create/modify P&IDs and wiring diagrams.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians; support emergency response and restore operations as needed.
