Job summary

Puget Sound Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer III for Generation Electrical & Controls in Washington. The role combines field and office work across wind, solar, and storage projects, with a focus on design, commissioning, and maintenance of plant control systems.

You will review complex plans, support upgrades, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards. Hybrid work arrangements are available and occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering field.
• 5+ years of planning, design, technical field work, cost estimating and scheduling experience.
• Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning and troubleshoot operational issues related to wind and solar generation, instrumentation, PLCs, DCSs, SCADA, and various power generation equipment.
• Propose recommendations for control system upgrades, component replacements and design improvements.
• Manage projects from inception to close-out including scope, budget and schedule; support construction and installation phases; lead commissioning and start-up; ensure documentation and maintenance plans.
• Prepare specifications and RFIs/RFPs and evaluate proposals from vendors.
• Evaluate the condition of critical electrical components and specify replacements as required.
• Design/modify HMIs, PLC, and DCS logic using ladder logic, structured text and function blocks.
• Create/modify P&IDs, loop drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Mentor and train other engineers and technicians.
• Support emergency response work including weather-driven restoration efforts and NERC compliance activities.
• Perform Arc Flash studies and develop reports.
