Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI seeks an Electrical Engineer II to design electrical and controls for custom environmental test chambers. You will prepare schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and production docs, supporting design, build, test, and field activities.

Responsibilities include integrating PLC hardware, sensors, motors, and VFDs, applying NEC/UL 508A/NFPA standards, and improving manufacturability and serviceability while maintaining ERP/MRP records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–10 years of electrical engineering or industrial controls experience.
• Proficient in reading, interpreting, and writing technical instructions, specifications, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Independently design control panels and power-distribution systems for custom chambers.
• Size components, protection devices, wiring, and layouts.
• Create and release electrical schematics, BOMs, wire data, design packages, and service documentation.
• Use AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical to update design documentation.
• Coordinate design details with Sales Release and Mechanical Design for electrical schematic and BOM reviews.
• Resolve production and panel assembly issues.
• Improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and serviceability.
• Support production, testing, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Maintain project records, BOMs, and ERP/MRP data.
