Job summary

WNA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II in Grand Rapids, MI to develop mechanical designs and production documentation for environmental test chambers. You will convert requirements into chamber layouts, BOMs, and design packages while applying knowledge of chamber construction, manufacturability, cost, and serviceability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, equivalent experience considered.
• 3–10 years of mechanical design, drafting, or manufacturing experience.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and/or Creo for sheet-metal models.
• Proficient with AutoCAD for layouts and fabrication drawings.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal, tolerances, weldments, and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Independently design chamber structures, layouts, sheet-metal parts, weldments, and mounting details.
• Create and release drawings, BOMs, submittals, print packs, and design packages.
• Coordinate designs with refrigeration, electrical, controls, and facility interfaces.
• Review specs, quotes, inputs, and calculations for accuracy.
• Coordinate requirements with internal teams, customers, vendors, and project managers.
• Support Manufacturing with documentation and design changes.
• Review and approve designs; maintain records in PDM/ERP systems.
