Job summary

KFI Engineers is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to lead electrical design and power system studies for the Utilities & Central Energy group. This role focuses on delivering drawings, calculations, and specifications while ensuring compliance with codes and client expectations.

The ideal candidate has a background in electrical engineering, strong design skills, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Some domestic travel is expected as part of project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum 3+ years of Electrical Engineering experience post-graduation.
  • Strong electrical design expertise across various industries and processes.
  • Proven knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence stakeholders and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Design for medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, including generation and distribution.
  • Design (drawings, specifications and calculations) of systems including ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, UPS, DC, MCCs and power factor correction.
  • Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes and contracted scope.
  • Performs power system studies, including arc fault, short circuit, load flow, coordination and harmonics using SKM PTW.
  • Review contractor submittals and provide field support during startup and commissioning.
  • Develop labor/cost estimates and manage scope/budget.
  • Create project plans and schedules; may serve as project manager for complete projects.
  • Support business development through proposals and customer meetings.
  • Provide technical and engineering support to other departments.
