Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking an engineer to design and validate electrical systems for school and commercial buses. You will develop 3D models, installation drawings, schematics, and BOMs, while researching new tech to reduce costs and improve reliability.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Manufacturing, Field Service, Quality, and Purchasing to deliver cost-effective, compliant solutions. A strong engineering background and ABET-accredited degree are required.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited B.S. in electrical/mechatronics/automotive engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and downstream impacts.
  • Experience identifying and solving root causes of complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design school bus electrical systems using engineering principles.
  • Develop 3D models, installation drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
  • Research state-of-the-art vehicle tech and apply low-cost production improvements.
  • Support production, warranty reduction, and field service with reliable solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with design teams and other departments.
