Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on school bus interior and exterior body components for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

You will apply CAD to create 3D models, drawings and Bills of Materials, while ensuring safe, compliant, reliable and cost-effective designs. You will collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality to solve issues, prototype new systems, and apply test results to new designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years experience.
• 6+ years of design engineering experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD is required; Creo preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering techniques to design and develop school bus interior/exterior body components.
• Develop 3D models and BOMs using CAD; create installation drawings.
• Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Fabrication, Quality and others to implement manufacturable and cost-effective designs.
• Prototype new systems with Test & Compliance; use test results to inform new designs.
• Inform middle management of project issues, delays and risks; monitor status.
• Research state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry and apply best practices.
