Job summary

Carbon Direct is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Power, Data and Innovation team. You will model power systems, market operations, and grid decarbonization strategies for client engagements, translating complex analyses for external clients and internal leaders.

The role blends engineering, economics, and data analytics with cross‑functional collaboration to advance decarbonization projects and advisory offerings.

Qualifications

• Requires Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency in transmission models (N-1, SCUC/SCED) and AC/DC power flow.
• Experience with production-cost models (PyPSA, PROMOD, Plexos, AURORA).
• Experience with wholesale electricity markets and ISOs/RTOs across NA and EU.
• Strong ability to present complex analytics to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and analyze electrical systems for decarbonization pathways.
• Develop transmission planning and ISP/IRP studies with client customization.
• Conduct due diligence on projects involving electrical infrastructure or energy storage.
• Present models and findings to clients, leadership, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with scientists, policy experts, and business teams on deliverables and thought leadership.
• Contribute to publications and reports on electrification and grid decarbonization.
