Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Electrical Engineering Lead for rotorcraft modification programs in Englewood, CO. You will own electrical system architecture, integrate avionics, power distribution, and networked systems, and develop design concepts.

You will define system-level power architectures supporting STCs and Field Approvals, modify COTS equipment, and provide technical leadership across teams. The role requires a BS in EE and 10+ years of aviation experience with FAA knowledge and CAD skills.

  • Ability to lead electrical/avionics architecture and system safety analyses.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks for wiring diagrams.
  • Proven leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Job description

  • Serve as Electrical Engineering Lead and Project Subject Matter Expert for assigned rotorcraft modification programs
  • Own electrical system architecture, integrating avionics, power distribution, and networked systems
  • Develop electrical and avionics design concepts and mature designs
  • Define system-level electrical power architectures supporting STCs and Field Approvals
  • Modify and document COTS equipment to meet program needs
  • Support design changes, Engineering Change Orders, system analyses, hardware testing, and prototype development
  • Participate in logistics planning, technical reviews, and design meetings
  • Develop and review cost estimates, system safety assessments, FMEA, electrical load analyses, wiring/interface schematics, installation and maintenance instructions, and flight manual supplements
  • Prepare and coordinate technical data for ODA projects, FAA STCs, and Field Approvals
  • Collaborate with Certification and ODA teams to advance designs from design through manufacturing
  • Support and oversee installation activities and prepare installation and repair/modification drawing packages
  • Develop wiring diagrams and installation data in accordance with FAA regulations and military/industry standards
  • Generate and maintain electrical drawings and wiring schematics using AutoCAD
  • Provide technical leadership, design oversight, and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
  • Interface with cross-functional teams, program leadership, customers, and certification authorities
  • Maintain schedule adherence, deliverables, and overall project status
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university; and 10 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 years previous experience directly related to aircraft electrical/avionics systems preferred
  • Understanding of FAA certification processes, aircraft operations, and electrical/communication and navigation systems
  • Ability to interpret and use aircraft manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, equipment installation instructions, and wiring diagrams
  • Proficient understanding of 14 CFR Parts 21, 27, and 29
  • Proficiency with SAE ARP 4754A and ARP 4761B
  • Capacity to lead the electrical aspects of multiple projects with support from junior engineers
  • Ability to explain complex requirements, technical concepts, and timelines across the enterprise
  • Ability to assess task- and project-level Level of Effort (LOE) for quoting
  • Ability to develop complex system safety analyses and associated volumes based on certification requirements and customer needs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D)
  • SolidWorks proficiency preferred
  • INCOSE ASEP Certification preferred
  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • 1% travel
