Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking Electrical Engineering Co-Op/Intern candidates to support reliability, project engineering, and process control at its mills. Roles include troubleshooting electrical issues, designing and starting up equipment, and using AutoCAD, P&ID, Trident, and MS Office to maintain project files.

Required is a 3.0/4.0 GPA, U.S. residency with a valid driver's license, and enrollment in Electrical Engineering or related fields with freshman year completed.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 is required.
• Must be a permanent U.S. resident with a valid driver's license.
• Majoring in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field and have completed freshman year (or will have completed freshman year) at time of co-op/internship.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical reliability assignments to improve mill safety, equipment performance, and efficiency.
• Work with reliability, maintenance, and operations personnel to troubleshoot issues.
• Apply predictive and preventive maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability.
• Assist with special reliability projects and other duties as assigned by management.
• Support electrical project engineering assignments including planning, design, installation, commissioning, and startup of mill electrical equipment.
• Use AutoCAD, P&ID drawings, process information systems, and other company software to update drawings and maintain files.
• Coordinate with engineers, operations, and contractors to ensure safe project execution and startup.
• Support project management activities such as scope, schedule, cost tracking, and communication.
• Support process control efforts including troubleshooting, DCS, and control system improvement.
• Update drawings, equipment files, and control documentation; assist with audits and startup support.
