Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead design teams across a variety of commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial projects. You will guide the electrical design from concept through construction, coordinating with clients, vendors, and other disciplines while ensuring budget and schedule adherence.

The role requires strong technical skills, effective communication, and mentoring of junior engineers. Travel and multi-site coordination are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related ABET-accredited program with minimum 3 years experience.
• Bachelor's or related degree with FE exam and minimum 3 years experience, consulting preferred.
• Master's degree with minimum 2 years experience, consulting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in problem solving.
• Proficiency in standard engineering practices and Microsoft Office.
• Strong CAD skills AutoCAD and MicroStation, plus 2D/3D rendering tools.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specs, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing, and construction planning; manage changes.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and ensure QA/QC adherence.
• Quality review drawings and construction administration on site.
• Lead field inspections, measurements, and testing of electrical systems.
• Prepare technical reports for clients and publications.
• Build relationships with clients and contractors and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead cost proposals, budgets, and performance reporting.
