Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to develop, maintain, and apply diverse engineering capabilities for innovative solutions across facilities and infrastructure. The role supports 38 square miles of LANL and involves COE program implementation, design, construction, commissioning, and operation.

The position will be filled at Electrical Design Engineer 2 or 3 level, with responsibilities expanding at the higher level.

Qualifications

• Advanced experience in design and operation of electrical and plumbing facility systems.
• Expert application of building codes, standards and green initiatives in facilities design.
• Advanced experience creating construction contract documents for commercial/industrial facilities.
• Ability to support construction execution, including timely review of submittals, RFIs, design changes, and as-built documentation.
• Experience with LANL/DOE standards and conducting engineering reviews.

Responsibilities

• Assess condition of existing facilities and infrastructure systems.
• Develop design scopes and estimate design efforts.
• Produce Construction Contract Documents and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interface with project stakeholders and coordinate between design disciplines.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and provide document revisions; mentor junior staff.
