Job summary

FirstEnergy is offering a Control Apprentice position within its Pennsylvania Electric Company subsidiary. The role provides formal and on-the-job training to qualify for technical controls work and covers installing, testing, and repairing a range of electrical and control equipment across the FE network.

Qualifications

• AS Electronics Technology or BS Electronics Engineering Technology degree preferred, or AAS degree in a science, technology or utility discipline minimum.
• Must pass the EEI Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) test.
• Ability to work safely and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in FE Safety Philosophy and follow safe work practices.
• Perform high voltage switching to install, maintain and modify controls equipment under direction.
• Collaborate with internal/external team members and customers.
• Assist in preparation of procedures for coordinating controls equipment additions or modifications.
• Familiarize with FE Substation Maintenance practices and system reliability standards.
