Job summary

Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division is hiring to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for power systems, working independently and with teams to execute retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.

The role requires PLC/ HMI development, legacy program conversion, and collaboration with CAD works. Travel up to 50% and relocation not offered in this posting. Caterpillar offers a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong customer-focused approach and service mindset.
Experience with automation and controls, PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
Ability to travel 35–50%.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator control systems.
Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
Perform technical risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on system operation.
