Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division seeks an experienced engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include identifying retrofit opportunities, executing design and testing of PLC/HMI systems, and supporting Sales and Product Support teams while traveling up to 50% as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with automation and controls including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience with degree, or 4 years without a degree.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV- and MV-generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams, including escalation support.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses in a timely manner.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
