Job summary

Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division seeks a skilled automation professional to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include retrofitting projects, PLC/HMI development, and collaboration with CAD, Sales, and Field teams. Must have electrical engineering credentials and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, PLC-based systems, HMIs, or distributed control systems.
• Able to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV and MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Train and support technicians and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
