Job summary

Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division is seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in generator control switchgear systems to design, program, and commission automation solutions. You will lead retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning, often working remotely within the U.S.

with substantial travel. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or BSEET preferred, experience with PLC/SCADA, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with dealers and factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams.
