Job summary

City of New Orleans is seeking a beginning level inspector to enforce electrical codes and safety standards across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. You will conduct inspections, document findings, and refer non-compliant work for correction.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Louisiana driver's license. Candidates with two years of wiring experience or ICC certification will be considered; probationary certification may be required during probation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Possession of a valid Louisiana Driver's License.
• Two (2) years of full-time experience in residential, commercial, or industrial wiring.
• Active ICC certification as Electrical Commercial/Residential Inspector.
• May be required to use personal vehicle with car allowance.
• Familiarity with electrical equipment in multi-family, high-rise, commercial, and light industrial settings.
• ICC certification must be obtained during probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Beginning level inspectional and law enforcement work to ensure compliance with ordinances and established safety standards relating to electrical systems, fixtures and equipment.
• Secure compliance in residential, commercial, or industrial wiring and related electrical installations.
• Document findings, prepare reports and communicate required corrective actions.
