Job summary

American Electric Power in New Albany, OH is offering a designer internship focused on CAD-based creation and updating of 3D inventory parts, assemblies, and 2D AutoCAD Electrical drawings. This onsite internship provides a hands-on foundation for your engineering career during the program term.

Responsibilities include producing and revising drawings, maintaining documents, using Autodesk CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, Vault) and Microsoft Office, and interpreting vendor

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an AAS drafting/CAD or engineering technology program with at least one year completed.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.
• Support creation, revision and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents.
• Obtain information from verbal and written sources, field notes and vendor catalogs to perform work.
• Perform mathematical calculations required to accomplish assigned work.
• Proficient in CAD software (Autodesk: AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, Vault).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Read vendor prints, shop drawings and operating instructions and apply in work.
• Demonstrate ethical behavior as outlined in company policies.
• Take on other duties as assigned.
