On-site – Indiana – 12-Month Contract – Full-Time (40 hrs/week + 10 hrs OT with approval)
Are you an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation engineer ready to support electrical and instrumentation execution on a high-profile pharmaceutical project? We’re looking for an experienced E&I Construction Engineer to provide technical engineering support, field coordination, and construction oversight for the delivery of electrical and control systems across a complex, highly regulated facility.
About the Role
This is a key engineering role where your ability to support field execution, resolve technical issues, coordinate installation activities, and support systems through testing and turnover will be critical to project success.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support for electrical and instrumentation construction activities, with a strong focus on field execution, coordination, and delivery
- Coordinate with E&I supervisors, foremen, engineers, and subcontractors across multiple work fronts to resolve technical and installation issues
- Support the planning, sequencing, and installation of electrical systems (power distribution, cable tray, lighting, grounding) and instrumentation systems (controls, field devices, panels)
- Verify safe, compliant, and high-quality installation practices in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Support system completion efforts including loop checks, walkdowns, punch management, and turnover readiness
- Coordinate closely with CSA, HVAC, piping, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration and system handover
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, and specifications
- Provide technical guidance and field engineering support to resolve installation issues, clashes, design discrepancies, and sequencing challenges
- Monitor field progress and identify technical issues that may impact installation, quality, or schedule commitments
- Support site safety requirements and ensure E&I activities are performed in accordance with all applicable safety standards
- Support pre-commissioning activities including energization readiness, loop testing, and system verification
- Ensure accurate reporting of field issues, technical progress, system status, and turnover documentation
- Support client walkdowns, inspections, technical reviews, and final system handover
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation construction engineering within industrial or life sciences projects
Required Skills
- Proven track record in an E&I engineering or construction engineering role
- Strong background supporting electrical and control/instrumentation systems installation
- Demonstrated experience supporting projects through testing, commissioning, and turnover phases
- Solid understanding of systemization, loop checking, and commissioning interfaces
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and instrumentation drawings
- Excellent technical coordination, communication, and field engineering skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, solutions-driven mindsetExperience working with safety, quality, and construction requirements on complex job sites
Preferred Skills
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated project experience
- Experience with GMP environments, automation systems, and process control/instrumentation
- Familiarity with commissioning, qualification (CQV), and system turnover processes
- Background on large-scale, fast-paced, multi-discipline construction programs
