Job description

Construction System Owner – Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I)

Contract: 12 months, with anticipated extensions | W2 only – no H1B sponsorship available

Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week, 10+ hours of overtime typical

i-Pharm GxP is partnering with a leading global pharmaceutical manufacturer on one of the largest capital projects currently underway in the US. We are recruiting a Construction System Owner – E&I to act as the electrical and instrumentation technical authority in the field during the construction phase of a multi-building GMP campus.

The role

You will provide field-based technical oversight of electrical and instrumentation installations, confirming that installed systems align with approved IFC drawings, technical specifications, validated submittals and applicable GMP requirements, and driving those systems through to energization, commissioning readiness and turnover.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Acting as the E&I discipline technical point of contact to the Project Manager and project leadership
  • Providing field oversight of power distribution, control panels, field instruments and associated cabling
  • Confirming installation readiness of switchgear, MCCs, transformers, cable trays and field devices
  • Identifying constructability issues, installation conflicts and access constraints, and escalating through project governance
  • Coordinating interfaces between electrical, instrumentation, automation, process equipment and CSA infrastructure
  • Maintaining and operating post-MC Non-CQ systems and areas
  • Participating in system walkdowns and readiness reviews, and supporting punch list resolution
  • Confirming turnover documentation is complete and aligned with project requirements
What we’re looking for
  • 10+ years of field experience supporting E&I system installation on large pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated capital projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline (desired)
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), IEC standards, ATEX and instrumentation best practice
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical distribution: switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS and emergency power systems
  • Experience with field instruments, control panels, signal wiring and loop verification
  • Proven exposure to system inspections, energization readiness, commissioning preparation and turnover documentation
  • Strong understanding of GMP construction practices and documentation requirements
  • The ability to work effectively across engineering teams, contractors, CQV and automation groups in a complex multi‑discipline environment
Why this one:

This is a long-duration assignment on a flagship build, with extensions anticipated beyond the initial 12 months and consistent overtime available. You'll be embedded with the client team rather than sitting at arm's length from the work.
