Job summary

The United Illuminating Company in Connecticut seeks a Field Technician C to support Customer Field Service with design work, data management, and field operations. The role requires strong basic engineering knowledge, safety compliance, and the ability to obtain an AS degree within three years or prove equivalent experience.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and readiness for storm/emergency assignments, with proficiency in Windows-based systems

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must enroll in an Associates Science Degree within 90 days of hire while working in Customer Field Service.
• After one year, for flow-through consideration, complete three additional college credits toward the AS degree.
• Must obtain Associate Science Degree within three years of hire while in Customer Field Service.
• Ten years of distribution/line experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Must be available for storm and emergency assignments.
• Must be able to use PC and Windows-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Learn electric codes and UI procedures (NESC/NEC/OSHA).
• Prepare work requests for smaller designs and assist in department tasks.
• Assist with field notes for third party work and capital projects.
• Gather customer requirements and prepare project documents.
• Communicate effectively with management, customers, and external organizations.
• Provide support to the Customer Field Service Department.
• Support storm restoration and emergency assignments.
• Maintain data in SAP, GIS, and other systems.
