Job summary

The United Illuminating Company in Connecticut seeks a Field Technician C to support the Customer Field Service department. You will assist in developing simple to moderate overhead line construction designs and work orders, perform related calculations, and maintain data in SAP, GIS, and ALDEN systems.

You will learn and implement electrical codes and UI procedures while preparing work requests for smaller designs, and you may be called for storm and emergency assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must enroll in Associates degree within 90 days of hire; continue in role for progression.
• Within 3 years must obtain Associate's degree in engineering/applied science or related curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Learn electric codes and safety standards (NESC/NEC/OSHA) and UI procedures.
• Prepare and process smaller design work orders and related documents.
• Gather requirements and produce accurate project documents (drawings, lists, service orders).
• Provide support to the Customer Field Service Department and communicate with management and customers.
