Job summary

Greenville Utilities seeks an Electric Distribution Engineer to oversee operation and expansion of distribution and transmission facilities in the Greenville area. Under general direction, you will supervise technical staff, coordinate with department heads, and ensure reliability and safety of the electric grid, including after-hour standby duties.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and over five years of experience, with preferred PE licensure or Engineer in Training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• Five+ years of engineering experience preferred.
• Professional licensure or EIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain existing distribution and transmission lines and plan new facilities.
• Coordinate with department head and staff engineers for efficient operations.
• Assist in budget development and long-range plans (five-year).
• Prepare budget estimates for maintenance of overhead/underground lines and facilities.
• Review materials and equipment used in construction of facilities.
• Prepare switching orders and assist in project timetables.

Salary Range:

$114, 108.80 - $181,417.60

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$114, 108.80 - $147,700.80

Brief Description

Under general direction, performs highly responsible engineering and technical staff work, and supervisory duties in directing and coordinating the operation of the electric transmission and distribution systems; Performs after hour standby duty at the engineering level; Performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Over five years of experience
• Bachelor's Degree
• Valid Driver's License

Job Responsibilities

• Operation and maintenance of the existing distribution and transmission line facilities and the construction of new facilities.
• Work closely with the department head and other staff engineers to ensure that department operations are coordinated.
• Assist the department head in the development of the department's annual budget and long-range work plans (five-year).
• Provide budget estimates for maintenance related to overhead and underground services and facilities, overhead distribution lines, transmission lines, and street and area lighting.
• Responsible for review, evaluation, and approval of all new materials, hardware, and equipment utilized in the construction of transmission and distribution facilities.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation, review, and execution of switching orders as required.
• Assist the Distribution Planning Engineer with the development of engineering and construction timetables and schedules for project implementation.
• Review billable work orders and resolve questions relative to customer charges.
• Assist in the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
• Rotate standby responsibilities with other staff engineers.
• Lead and participate in the repairs of GUC electrical system following storms or other disruptions of electrical service.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the department head.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 7 am - 4 pm or 8 am - 5 pm
