Greenville Utilities Commission in Greenville, NC is seeking an Electric Distribution Engineer to manage operation and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems and supervise related activities. The role includes standby duties and coordinating with staff engineers to execute projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor's degree, and a valid driver's license; preferred credentials include Engineer in Training and a Professional Engineering license.

Responsibilities

• Operation and maintenance of the existing distribution and transmission line facilities and the construction of new facilities.
• Work closely with the department head and other staff engineers to ensure that department operations are coordinated.
• Assist the department head in the development of the department's annual budget and long-range work plans (five-year).
• Provide budget estimates for maintenance related to overhead and underground services and facilities, overhead distribution lines, transmission lines, and street and area lighting.
• Responsible for review, evaluation, and approval of all new materials, hardware, and equipment utilized in the construction of transmission and distribution facilities.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation, review, and execution of switching orders as required.
• Assist the Distribution Planning Engineer with the development of engineering and construction timetables and schedules for project implementation.
• Review billable work orders and resolve questions relative to customer charges.
• Assist in the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
• Rotate standby responsibilities with other staff engineers.
• Lead and participate in the repairs of GUC electrical system following storms or other disruptions of electrical service.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the department head.
