Job summary

Xcel Energy offers an internship designed for students in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management. The role includes support for electric distribution design tasks, GIS/mapping, field site visits, and coordinating with IT systems and other departments.

The internship starts May 24, 2027 and may extend based on performance and business needs. It follows a hybrid work policy with potential in-person site work and remote options where applicable.

Qualifications

• Currently a sophomore or higher enrolled in an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• Willing to commit to full-time summer work and part-time school-year hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project management tasks and scheduling.
• Communicate with internal and external customers.
• Learn construction practices and field processes.
• Learn company IT systems including GIS/mapping.
