Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Distribution Dispatching Coordinator to review and approve equipment removal for maintenance and coordinate real-time dispatch activities to keep the distribution system safe and reliable.

You'll supervise dispatching and field personnel under outage conditions, ensure proper switching orders, tagging, and logging, and provide technical leadership while maintaining high availability for callouts.

Qualifications

Associate degree in electrical or electronic technology, or equivalent education/experience.
Minimum of three years' experience as an electric system operator.
Successful completion of the System Operations/Power Dispatch (SOPD) and Data Entry tests.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain availability for callouts.

Responsibilities

Promote and support safety, health, procedures, and compliance expectations.
Coordinate distribution system operations, switching, and dispatch center activities.
Verify accuracy of switching orders for removal/restoration of lines and equipment.
Provide technical guidance to support work per established practices and safety tagging.
Lead dispatching coordination during restoration events and communicate with involved personnel.
