Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Distribution System Supervisor to supervise construction, maintenance and operation of the distribution system, ensuring safe, timely and reliable service within budgets and contributing to restoration efforts during outages.

You will provide leadership, enforce safety policies, supervise resources, and ensure staff are trained and aligned with company goals while managing budgets and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: 7+ years in distribution, construction, maintenance or operations.
• Supervisory experience: 2 years in distribution activities or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to ensure a safe work environment and a safe distribution system.
• Promote and enforce safety programs to safeguard employees and the public.
• Supervise resources and assets to meet goals and budgets.
• Oversee distribution system construction, maintenance and operation to design standards.
• Lead training and development to keep employees skilled and focused.
• Manage budgets and supervise resources for timely service restoration.
• Coordinate acquisition and maintenance of tools, vehicles and equipment.
• Oversee performance reviews, salary programs and policies for assigned personnel.
• Handle promotions, demotions and disciplinary actions as assigned.
