Job summary

Navajo County is seeking an Election Support Specialist to assist in the organization and operation of elections and voter registration under the Election Director. You will perform a variety of clerical and technical tasks, support polling locations, train seasonal personnel, and help ensure accurate vote handling.

Responsibilities include equipment testing, inventory, and compliance with HAVA; occasional travel to polling sites; and ability to work irregular hours during election cycles.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of elections work experience.
• Must be registered to vote in Arizona.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Able to become Election Officer Certified at next available training date.

Responsibilities

• Prepares election supplies for polling locations and poll worker training classes.
• Assists with recruitment and training of seasonal election personnel.
• Manages inventory control, ordering and storage of election equipment and supplies.
• Assists with transport, delivery and return of voting machines and supplies to polling places.
• Maintains a warehouse in a safe, clean and organized manner.
• Assists with preventative maintenance of voting equipment and other election supplies.
• Participates in processing election ballots.
• Assists with preparation of equipment to conduct elections.
• Tests programs, hardware and election equipment before and after elections.
• Assists with aspects of voter registration and related tasks as needed.
• Assists with HAVA compliance by inspecting polling place facilities.
• Trains seasonal employees hired for election work.
• Travels to poll sites; available for irregular hours, weekends, holidays and evenings.
• Assists in auditing election returns and recounts.
