Job summary

City of Indianapolis and Marion County is offering an intern position across multiple departments to support the preparation and execution of elections in Marion County. Interns will work full-time, seasonal, and temporary staff in various tasks, with a focus on public service and accuracy.

Ideal candidates are college juniors, seniors, or graduate students, available for 37.5 hours weekly, and registered to vote in Marion County.

Qualifications

• Open to current college juniors, seniors, and graduate students.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn and use databases and cloud-based tools.
• Strong communication and confidentiality skills required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and accept campaign finance reports.
• Assist with ballots creation and testing of election equipment.
• Recruit, assign, and engage poll workers for Vote Centers.
• Assist with website and social-media content and other communication strategies.
• Assist staff with poll-worker training sessions before Election Day.
• Review, process, and approve applications for voters requesting a vote-by-mail absentee ballot.
• Aid inventory monitoring and supply kit assembly for Vote Centers.
• Establish leadership for In-Person Early Voting at multiple locations.
• Respond to voter questions by email and phone, referring complex issues as needed.
• Assist in Election Day operations at the Election Service Center.
