The City of Indianapolis is seeking a temporary Election Clerk to support the Election Board. Under supervision, you will perform general clerical tasks, greet visitors, process documents, and assist with absentee voting and poll worker coordination.
The role focuses on accurate data handling and orderly office operations in Marion County. Ideal candidates are registered voters in Marion County with strong customer service and organizational skills, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office.
The Election Board oversees federal, state, county, city, and school district elections in Marion County. The board’s administrative duties include accepting campaign finance and candidate filing forms, handling election ballots, maintaining voting machines, training election officials, and counting and certifying votes.
Under direct supervision performs a variety of general clerical/office support functions to facilitate and streamline administrative processes in the Election Board. Answers telephones; greets visitors; receives, processes, and distributes mail/documents; prepares and processes scheduling and implementation of the Marion County Election system. Performs general data processing/typing activities; and provides direct administrative support to the Election Board Director and his/her staff. This position may not exceed the employment term of twelve (12) weeks per hiring period.

Work is conducted in a standard office environment. Some work, including, but not limited to Election Day, is required in the Election Service Center (ESC). Working conditions in the ESC include 37,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Dress is commensurate with working conditions. No shorts allowed for safety reasons; closed toe shoes are required at all times and steel toed shoes/boots are recommended. Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive between office, Election Service Center, polling locations and satellite voting locations.
