Johnson County Government is seeking an Election Specialist to support polling location operations and workforce services. You will recruit and assist election workers, survey potential voting locations, and maintain nonpartisan, professional voter services.

The role emphasizes strong communication, dependability, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment where details matter. Some travel and weekend coverage may be required for elections.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, Communications or related field.
• Two years of experience in election work or public sector service.
• Travel required 5%–25%.
• May require KS/MO driver’s license depending on department or agency.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; CERA credential preferred.
• Education may be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Election Operations Support: assist in preparation and execution of election activities including early voting and election day operations.
• Election Worker Coordination: assist with recruitment, assignment, communication, and coordination of election workers.
• Training Support: assist in the coordination and delivery of training programs, materials, scheduling, and tracking attendance.
• Logistics and Equipment Support: assist with preparation, staging, deployment, and retrieval of voting equipment and supplies; support warehouse operations and inventory.
• Voting Equipment and Testing Support: assist with election system prep, programming, L&A testing, and equipment verification.
• Data Entry and Record Maintenance: maintain accurate records across systems, ensuring data integrity.
• Customer Service and Communication: serve as a point of contact for voters, candidates, election workers, and staff; provide timely information.
• Cross-Division Coordination: work across divisions to support election operations.
• Confidentiality and Discretion: handle sensitive information with discretion.
