Job summary

Central Boston Elder Services, Inc. in Boston, MA seeks a Protective Services Worker to receive and investigate elder abuse and self-neglect reports, provide consultation, referrals, and comprehensive assessments of elders’ needs, risks, and decision-making capacity.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with required protective services experience as described in the ad.
• Experience in counseling, casework or case management with protective, domestic violence or crisis intervention focus preferred.
• Strong assessment skills are required.
• Effective client advocacy and ability to empower elders and people with disabilities.
• Knowledge of Home Care and health programs and community resources is preferred.
• Strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills for an urban, multi-ethnic environment.
• Organizational, time management and independent working ability with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in typing and computer use; EOEA documentation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive case assignment and consult with PS Supervisor for clarification.
• Complete comprehensive assessment within 30 calendar days of referral.
• Emergency reports responded to within 5 hours; rapid reports within 24 hours; non-emergency within 5 days.
• Assess elder's capacity to consent to Protective Services.
• Develop and implement service plans with elder consent.
• Enter written service plans into APS with timely revisions.
• Participate in 24-hour on-call coverage as scheduled.
• Attend and contribute to department and agency meetings.
