Job summary

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a part-time Elder Meal Assistant at one of our meal sites in Saint Ignace, MI. You will help prepare congregate meals for the site and for delivery, following sanitation standards and maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area.

No prior experience is required; high school diploma preferred. Serve Safe certification is preferred and a valid driver’s license is required for occasional deliveries or transportation duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of Elder congregate meals for the site and for delivery.
• Prepare meals and follow sanitation standards for food preparation and storage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and dispose of trash appropriately.
• Meet with the cook and nutritionist as needed to coordinate meal planning.
• Shop for groceries as needed.
• Assist in maintaining inventory records for food products and supplies.
