Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Student Services Assistant to support the Youth Education and Activities Program. You will work with Native American youth from preschool through 12th grade, reinforcing learning, supervising activities, and helping with record keeping.

The role involves assisting with program development, coordinating events, and ensuring safety and compliance. Evening and weekend availability and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree, trade, or technical education in education preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience working with youth required.
  • Must pass background check and obtain chauffeur’s license within 60 days.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing program activities, recognition events, and recruiting participants.
  • Participate in all YEA Program activities and supervise the group.
  • Monitor participants and enforce program policies and procedures.
  • Teach rules, techniques, and skills for educational, cultural, and recreational activities.
  • Organize supplies/resources and maintain facility in policy compliance.
  • Maintain complete records of participation, subjects studied, and progress.
  • Provide guidance and practice tools to reinforce material learned in class or at home.
  • Transports participants in company vehicles and supports incentive activities.
