Job summary

Larchmont Charter School in Los Angeles, CA seeks a highly qualified ELD Coordinator (TOSA) to support English Learner students and staff across TK–12 campuses.

Working one day per week, the Coordinator will lead development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the ELL program, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements while advancing best practices in both Designated and Integrated ELD.

Qualifications

  • Valid California Teaching Credential.
  • English Learner Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, EL Authorization, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success teaching English Learners.
  • Deep knowledge of California ELD Standards, ELPAC, reclassification criteria, and best practices for multilingual learners.
  • Experience analyzing student achievement and language proficiency data.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, coaching, and professional development facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support the academic and language development progress of all English Learners (TK–12).
  • Maintain oversight of English Learner records, including: ELPAC and Interim ELPAC assessment data, English Learner progress monitoring, Designated ELD implementation and documentation, Reclassification data and processes, Compliance requirements related to English Learner services.
  • Analyze student performance data and identify students requiring additional support or intervention.
  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers to monitor progress toward language acquisition goals and reclassification criteria.
  • Design and facilitate professional development for TK–12 teachers and staff on: California ELD Standards, Designated ELD best practices, Integrated ELD strategies across content areas, Effective instruction for multilingual learners, Progress monitoring and data-informed instructional practices.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to teachers regarding instructional planning and implementation for English Learners.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend high-quality curricula, instructional resources, professional learning opportunities, and evidence-based practices related to English Learner instruction.
  • Support the selection and implementation of instructional materials and assessment tools aligned with California ELD Standards.
  • Stay current on state guidance, research, and best practices related to multilingual learner education.
  • Design, implement, and maintain simple, high-leverage systems for monitoring and supporting English Learners across TK–12.
  • Develop structures and tools that promote consistency and fidelity in Designated and Integrated ELD implementation across campuses.
  • Establish systems for ongoing review of EL achievement, language growth, and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to ensure continuous improvement of the English Learner program.
  • Partner with site administrators, instructional leaders, intervention staff, and special education teams to ensure coordinated support for English Learners.
  • Participate in meetings and planning processes related to English Learner achievement and program implementation.
  • Support communication regarding English Learner services and outcomes as needed.
