Job summary

Center City Public Charter Schools in Washington, DC seeks an experienced ELA/Literacy Instructional Coach for grades 3–8 as part of a six-month pilot, with extension possible based on effectiveness and campus needs.

The coach will provide embedded, school-based coaching to teachers, emphasize Wit & Wisdom implementation, report to the Principal, and collaborate with network staff to align curriculum and instructional expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Significant successful experience teaching ELA/literacy across upper elementary and/or middle school grades.
• Demonstrated experience coaching teachers and providing actionable instructional feedback.
• Experience conducting classroom observations and using data to identify instructional needs.
• Strong knowledge of standards-aligned literacy instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular, job-embedded coaching to ELA/literacy teachers in grades 3–8 through observations, feedback, modeling, co-planning, rehearsal, and follow-up.
• Support Wit & Wisdom implementation, including unit/lesson prep, pacing, and alignment to standards.
• Establish and manage coaching cycles based on teacher need, data, and priorities with the Principal.
• Conduct frequent observations and provide timely, specific feedback.
• Analyze student work and assessment data to drive instructional adjustments.
• Plan with teachers for lessons and units; model effective practices.
• Support professional learning and collaborative planning for grades 3–8 ELA/literacy teachers.
