Job summary

Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in the District of Columbia is seeking a literacy specialist to lead training, technical assistance, and professional development for Local Education Agencies to improve English Language Arts outcomes and close the achievement gap.

The role reports to the Literacy Manager within the Division of Teaching and Learning and focuses on evidence-based practices to support DCPS and public charter schools. Work is performed in an office setting.

Qualifications

• Degree includes study in learning theory, instructional design, educational evaluation, instructional product development, and computers in education.
• Course work must cover at least four of the five areas listed.
• Experience with evaluating instructional programs and developing training materials is valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop research-based and data-driven English Language Arts supports for elementary and secondary students.
• Provide professional development and technical assistance to LEAs, including DCPS and public charter schools.
• Collaborate across OSSE divisions to determine technical assistance strategies and connect stakeholders to resources.
